ME020002 - PRB: Email messages are sent to the wrong account when multiple accounts are associated with an Outlook profile

SYMPTOMS

When you set up one or more email accounts for a profile in Microsoft Outlook, email messages that are intended for a particular account are sent to the Inbox of a different account.

CAUSE

This issue may occur of the profile settings have become corrupted or are misconfigured as a result of using multiple message stores within the Outlook environment.

RESOLUTION

Because the OpenProtocol connector replicates data to the messaging platform, any profile corruption or Outlook related issue is recoverable by simply recreating the profile. As such, the simplest solution is to follow the Microsoft recommendation outlined in the workaround section of this article.

Alternatively, you can open the Account Settings configuration and follow the procedure below:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. On the search bar, type mail.
  3. Double-click Mail.
  4. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click E-mail Accounts.
  5. In the Account Settings dialog box, review the Data Files tab and take note of the name of the first item.
  6. Click back to the E-mail tab and use the arrow keys to ensure that the account noted above appears first in the list.
  7. Click Close.
